BRSGolfvsIntelligentGolf

The two established names in UK golf club software, compared, plus where an independent, openly priced alternative fits. BRS is one of the best-known, marketplace-backed tee sheets; IntelligentGolf is the competitions and handicapping specialist. Neither publishes standard pricing.

The short version

Twoincumbents,twoverydifferentmodels

BRS Golf is one of the biggest tee-sheet names in UK and Irish golf, owned by GolfNow, now part of the US media group Versant. Its tee booking is widely rated, and it comes with the GolfNow marketplace. The marketplace can sell your spare visitor tee times, for a commission or a share of your inventory.

IntelligentGolf comes at it from the other end. It is a competitions and WHS handicapping specialist, licensed and trusted for everything from the club medal to elite qualifying. Since 2019 it has been owned by ClearCourse, a private-equity-backed software group that also owns ClubV1. Its pricing is quote-based, with handicapping charged separately, and its booking screens draw the odd complaint for feeling dated.

Both are demo-gated and sit inside larger corporate groups. If you want a third option that publishes its pricing and keeps things simple, here is how all three line up.

The honest bit

Whichshouldyouchoose

Choose BRS if visitor green fees drive your club and you want the GolfNow marketplace working to fill quiet tee times. It suits clubs comfortable with a marketplace owning part of that relationship.

Choose IntelligentGolf if competitions and WHS handicapping are the heart of your club and you want them run properly from one established supplier.

Choose Golf Club Software if you want the booking, green fees, payments and membership side to be simple and openly priced, from an independent UK company. This fits if you are happy to keep a dedicated handicapping system alongside. We do not replace competitions or the GolfNow marketplace, and we are clear about that.

Questions

BRSGolfvsIntelligentGolf,answered

Is BRS Golf or IntelligentGolf better?

It depends on what your club runs on. BRS has the stronger tee-booking brand and a marketplace that can sell your spare green fees. IntelligentGolf is stronger on competitions and WHS handicapping. Neither publishes standard pricing, and both are demo-gated. If simple, openly priced booking and payments matter more than either of those, an independent alternative like Golf Club Software is worth a look.

Do BRS Golf and IntelligentGolf take commission on green fees?

They work differently. BRS is owned by the GolfNow marketplace, which makes money from green-fee tee times through commission or a share of your inventory. IntelligentGolf is a subscription product and does not resell tee times. Golf Club Software takes no commission either, and publishes its pricing.

Are BRS Golf and IntelligentGolf owned by the same company?

No. BRS is owned by GolfNow, part of the US media group Versant. IntelligentGolf is owned by ClearCourse, a private-equity-backed software group, which separately also owns ClubV1. Golf Club Software is independent.

Which one is cheapest?

Neither BRS nor IntelligentGolf publishes standard pricing, so you cannot compare on cost without booking a demo. Golf Club Software publishes its prices by course size, so you can see the figure before you talk to anyone.
